Not naked but in nature. Today we took a trip with P and her kids up to Table Rock State Park. We got there about 9.30 and spent 2 hours playing up and down the stream, over rocks, in the water, and under the waterfall. Well the kids did the latter. It was fun to watch them gingerly sneak under the waterspray and gradually gain more confidence in themselves. They launched themselves into the pool below the falls a few times. They really have become them most incredible water babies. It was a very different experience for me because instead of worrying about them slipping or falling, or being out of sight, or monitoring their every move, I was confident in their ability to negotiate big, slippery rocks, and take care of themselves and making their own judgments about things. It was very liberating! We saw a group of snails on the rhododendron by the side of the path, a salamander in a crevice by the waterfall and James and I saw the tiny tail of a snake poking out of the bridge.
After lunch with geese (a family of two parents and 5 youngsters were insistent we should go away or feed them, we're not sure which) we went to the lake to swim. I had some magical moments holding and throwing the kids in the water - not a cross word was spoken all day and that's a miracle!!
