Day 1

The first full day, before breakfast even, we hiked down to the Old Water Wheel - used by the CCC to pump water to their work site. The pump has been relocated to closer to the ranger station, but the stone pillars still remain in the valley. We didn't take the camera - silly!

Later in the morning we took out a Jon boat and paddled around the lake three times in a light mist. Didn't take the camera on the boat ,but did manage to capture the return of the oars by our intrepid (and helpful) children!

Lunch was hot dogs and sausages on another fire!

Chloe enjoyed playing in the sand, making mud and burying her Polly Pocket, head first in it. When we came back later in the day the mud patch had been visited by a raccoon.

After my nap, and during Neil's nap we played Qwerkle.

The children discovered the joys of making smoke.
