Wolfville

On Tuesday last week we went to Wolfville, to Acadia to take Neil to give a talk. Wolfville is just over an hour from here but the weather was difficult ... there was snow and wind and that made it very miserable. We spent the time in a bookstore, the library and Gaspereaux Valley Fibers ... all in all it was a difficult day but each element was quite a treat. In the bookstore we discovered Peg and the Yeti, a book about Sea Dogs (ie. real dogs at sea), and another Mr. Putter Book (I love this series - a gentle series about Mr. Putter and his cat Tabby). In the library the kids just played ... they had an ancient toy stove and a selection of soft toys to play with. At Gaspereaux Valley fibers there was a wood stove to warm ourselves by and the most gorgeous selection of wool, I managed to spend $90 on beautiful wool. We were hoping to see the sheep there but the weather was too bad and everyone was hunkered down.

After reuniting with Neil we checked out the B & B we were staying in ... stunning. Lovely stained glass and a wonderful radiator and real elegance.














The Victorian Inn, we had a bedroom each (us and the kids, not that we all stayed in the same beds, and poor Neil ended up on the sofa again) and sitting room, very luxurious. Breakfast was lovely, and with the resident cat, Tommy. Then we had dinner with Franklin (fish and chips again!) who was a key party in Neil and mys' introduction all those years ago (we've been together over eleven years!!!) It was lovely to see him after all these years. There's something magical about touching the past in such a direct, uncomplicated way.

The next day we visited the Coffee Museum- a strangely wonderful pace in the middle of nowhere. Really good coffee and wonderful interpretation about fair trade and coffee production. As always, if there are buttons to push and flaps to raise the kids are happy.
