Over the past se

veral years, actually since before the kids

were born, I have been lucky enough to go to the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont for classes and workshops. This past weekend was supposed to be a family adventure with all of us getting to go and visit the Institute. We were all packed up on Friday, ready to pick the kids up at lunchtime and head out of town, when the school nurse called and said Skiboo was throwing up. We hoped against hope that he would recover, but it was not to be. So Chloe and I went together - it was fabulous. The first night we got to lay out in a field and look at the moon and stars. The next morning was winter survival skills- how to filter water from the stream to drink.
